SASSA grant payments for February kick-started on Friday
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) Eastern Cape says that social grants payments for the month of February will began on Friday, 1 February 2019 for electronic payments at banks, merchants, ATM’s and SAPO outlets.
"Payments at cash paypoints will begin on the 5th of February 2019," described SASSA Eastern Cape Regional Spokesperson, Luzuko Qina.
Qina said that SASSA has noted with concerns the long queues at South African Post Office (SAPO) outlets and at merchants, where social grants beneficiaries are lining-up to receive their social grant payments.
"SASSA also reminds all its beneficiaries that social grants get paid out from the 1st of every month and remains that unless announced otherwise.
"The dates for the February 2019 payment cycle were communicated to beneficiaries during the January payment cycle," he described.
SASSA grant beneficiaries urged to be wary of scams
Qina also said that the agency would like to advise all social grant beneficiaries to be wary and vigilant of the misleading information about the changes on dates of social grant payments.
He further advised beneficiaries to call SASSA toll free on 0800 60 10 11 or customer care line at 043 707 6300/6335 for all enquiries.
