Metrorail plans to resume train services in Buffalo City Metro

East London - Metrorail operated commuter trains between East London and Berlin are set to resume operations on Wednesday, 1 July.

"We have 20 stations inclusive of two (2) halts with no infrastructure. On daily basis, we run 26 trains in total, from 04:30am until 8pm," Metrorail said.

On a daily basis, the railline transports at least 12 000 commuters. It runs a service with 7E locomotives which pulls 10 coaches. On a normal service each coach carries a capacity of 160 comnuters on board.

The current service will accommodate the COVID-19 protocols.

The nine stations that will be in operation include: Berlin, Fort Jackson, Edgerton, Mt Ruth, Mdantsane, Mtsotso, Vincent, Southernwood and East London.

The railline will be running a limited service of 11 trains and monitor social distancing at stations and on board.

Metrorail will sell singles and return tickets.
